Many, many thank-yous to Lauren Gassman of Food Loop Compost for being our May meeting’s guest speaker last week!
Lauren introduced us to her composting service started back in October 2019, her basic composting techniques, business model and scaling her business.
Food Waste counts for approximately 30% of all waste that goes into a landfill, and reducing food waste reduces carbon emissions. In Project Drawdown, Reduced Food Waste is the #3 solution for reducing carbon emissions. Below is a screenshot of PD’s list of solutions in descending order of reduced emissions.
Lauren described to us her technique of composting which can be used at home as well. Lauren uses the 18 Day Berkeley Method of Hot Composting, so after about a month or so she has compost ready to use. Food Loop’s services are collecting food waste and their products are the compost that can be used for your garden or yard.
Contact Lauren at hello@foodloopcompost.com. Food Loop Compost is also on Facebook and Instagram. Below is her PowerPoint presentation that has lots of great info in it. Lauren, thank-you so much!
