The Virginia Green Initiative is expanding! We’re building partnerships with Clean Fairfax, Washington Gas Holdings (WGL), Prince William County and many local businesses.

It was a packed meeting, reviewing updates (the Green Challenge is open and ready to take!), discussing upcoming events and guest speakers and then wrapping up with our spotlight speaker Tim Reichert of Energy Sherlock and Stephanie Burns of the Business Climate Leaders action network.

Tim Reichert was our Business Spotlight Speaker and gave a great talk on how his company helps businesses conserve energy through some very innovative techniques, with the stats to prove their techniques work! Energy Sherlock also provides R2 certified recycling and disposal of all types of equipment (IT, electronics, telecomm, medical, industrial) to protect our landfills and to prevent data and information on equipment from becoming a cyber-security risk. Stephanie Burns wrapped up a great meeting by giving a presentation on the newly formed Business Climate Leaders which is a part of the Citizens Climate Lobby. She gave a great overview of major policies that are gaining momentum, including the Green New Deal, bill to watch in 2019 is the Energy Innovation & Carbon Dividend Act. Businesses are committing to the Paris Climate Agreement and moving forward! Below is her presentation with her contact info.
