About VGIThe Virginia Green Initiative and the Green Business Challenge
The Loudoun Green Business Challenge was created in 2009 as a partnership between Loudoun County and the Loudoun Chamber of Commerce for the purpose of encouraging all businesses to strive for long-term environmental sustainability. Updated in 2018 as the Virginia Green Initiative, it helps identify and recognize the environmentally-sustainable accomplishments of participating businesses through a scorecard. Any commercial based business and home based business in Virginia is welcome to complete the scorecard and be a part of this great green movement.
The Virginia Green Initiative relies on the honor and integrity of each participant. There are no authorities in place to audit each submission. It has been developed to recognize, acknowledge and build a community of trust among participating organizations and networking opportunities. To better prepare for the scorecard successful completion, consider how sustainability relates to your business with regard to these pillars of sustainability:
- Efficiency and quality—How does your business improve efficiency in waste, energy, transportation, water and the supply chain?
- Productivity—How does your business address air quality, thermal comfort, greenery/nature, and water quality?
- Growth and resiliency— How does your business engage employees, conduct public outreach, and address risk management?
