Virginia Green initiative, Inc. recognizes that communities need to take innovative steps to reduce energy usage and promote sustainability.

Most importantly, business are encouraged to participate in a friendly competition known as the Virginia Green Business Initiative. The “Challenge” is designed to encourage and recognize specific environmental policies and practical actions that not only reduce carbon emissions, but can save businesses money.

Virginia Green Initiative, Inc. grew out of the Loudoun County Green Business Challenge which was started in 2009 to improve and assist businesses to become more sustainable and be recognized for their efforts while having a positive impact in their bottom line. The Virginia Green Initiative, Inc. is a tax exempt 501(c)(3) business.

All local governments in Virginia are invited to offer the Green Business Challenge to their businesses.
